The Flotilla for Friendship welcomes Indigenous youth of all ages, as well as anyone who supports the spirit and purpose of the event and would like to take part.

No. While Indigenous youth and reconciliation are at the heart of the Flotilla, the event is open to community members, families, partners, volunteers and first responders who support its purpose.

Yes. Parents and guardians are welcome to participate and accompany youth.

Yes. Advance registration helps us plan for meals, activities, canoes and participant safety.

No. The Flotilla for Friendship is free to attend.

Absolutely. Participants can take part in land based activities and other programming throughout the day.

No previous paddling experience is required. Participants will receive safety instructions before entering the water.

Yes. Safety equipment will be provided for participants taking part in the canoeing portion of the event.

No. Canoeing is optional, and activities will be available for those who prefer to remain on land.

Yes. Breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided during the event.

Yes. We encourage participants to bring a reusable water bottle and stay hydrated throughout the day.

The event begins at Mooney’s Bay, with paddlers travelling to Dow’s Lake as part of the day’s activities.

Dress comfortably for the weather and bring sunscreen, appropriate footwear, a reusable water bottle and any personal items you may need throughout the day.

The day will include cultural programming, canoeing, activities, meals, opportunities to connect with community organizations and first responders, and moments of reflection and celebration.

The event is expected to proceed in normal weather conditions. Any changes due to severe weather or safety concerns will be communicated to registered participants.

Updates will be shared through the Flotilla for Friendship website and event communications.

Paid parking is available at Mooney’s Bay Park from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at $1.00 per 30 minutes, with a five-hour maximum.

Vehicles displaying a valid accessible parking permit may park for up to four hours free of charge.

As parking at Mooney’s Bay is limited and subject to time restrictions, please plan accordingly. If the main lot is full, street parking is available on streets facing and surrounding the park. Please check and follow all posted parking restrictions.
